Sylvia Plath was an American poet best known for her novel 'The Bell Jar,' and for her poetry collections 'The Colossus' and 'Ariel.' She lived a difficult life where she went through lots of challenges. But through each challenge, came a learning experience. Which was my goal to highlight through this zine.
Each spread allowed me to share a specific time in Sylvia Plath’s life. I also had the opportunity to talk about her writing and how each piece of work had a correlation to that time in her life. Writing was her escape from a world that she did not always feel happy in. But I made sure to highlight those moments that she was happy in her life.

Each typographic move made on each spread was constructed to be lyrical. I made the decision to choose a sans serif for the body type and a serif for her quoted thoughts taken from her journals. As many will know her to be a ‘dark’ writer, I believe deep down inside she had a kind spirit. And I really wanted to make sure that it came through.
